The Monona Chamber & Economic Development, Inc., is happy to announce the planning and organizing of another fresh new Chamber event. A Taste of Art & Wine Holiday Festival is scheduled for Saturday, December 5th in Downtown Monona. A Taste of Art and Wine Holiday Festival will feature Artist Vendors, a wine tasting and host of other activities including the Scouts annual Pancake Breakfast, a Winter Frolic 5k, Retailers Door Buster Sales, Children’s Story Hour, Bake Sale, Soup Luncheon/Supper, a Holiday Parade, Live Music and of course Santa! Many of these activities will take place at the Community Center and at participating Retail Locations. It is our intention to create a delightful environment throughout our community that encourages patrons to stroll our streets to see what this festive weekend in Monona has to offer!
The festival will kick-off with a Winter Frolic 5K run/walk starting at 8:15 am. This is a unique event that may offer a challenging wintery terrain and a festive atmosphere. The event is open to all types of runners/walkers, fast, slow, short, tall, we will take anyone who enjoys running or walking! This event will start and finish at the Monona High School Parking Lot and will run through surrounding neighborhoods. This race will be timed with medals awarded to the top two finishers in each age group. The cost to register for this event is $10 and it includes a Free ticket to the Scouts Pancake Breakfast. T-shirts are also available for purchase at the time of preregistration for $15. At this time, we are actively searching for quality artists and craftsmen who are interested in vending opportunities at this event. We are also seeking Parade entries for the Holiday Parade which will be held at 5:30 that evening. It is our hope that parade participants will decorate their float to signify the spirit of the holiday season. We are encouraging creativity with the use of lights and other holiday decorations. If you are part of a club, non-profit group, local business or simply festive spirited, please consider showcasing your organization and talent by putting together an entry for our Holiday Parade. If you would like to submit a Parade entry, you can do so by simply calling 563-880-1266 or emailing MononaChamber@neitel.net. Parade entry forms will also be available for pick up at The Bannister and Jodi’s Americana Grille. Preregistration by 6:00 pm on Thursday, December 4th is required.
The festival will wrap up at the Community Center after the parade with some Live Music by Takes 2, Hot beverages, Soup Supper and one last chance to check out the vendors. This is an event you don’t want to miss!
