Once in a Blue Moon NYE 2009

December 31st, 2009 | By Joleen Jansen

bluemoonDid you know in addition to being New Year’s Eve 2009, the day before the first day of the next decade, it is also a Blue Moon? According to the experts, a Blue Moon refers to the rare event when two full moons occur in the same month. It takes 29.5 days for the Earth to circle the moon, so the blue moon phenomenon is more likely to occur in months with 31 days. The rare Blue Moon occurs only 7 times every 19 years.

Some evidence suggests arrests for public intoxication increase during a full moon. Combine this full moon with the eve of a new decade…look out. Drink Responsibly & Drive Responsibly.
