My husband, Jim and I just got back from a quick tour of several dishntunes.com establishments. We had lunch at Jodi’s Americana Grille in Monona. What a tasty, well prepared lunch. I had a deliciously unique Cheddar BBQ Chicken sandwich, served on ciabatta bread.
It was fantastic. The sandwich was layered with onion straws giving a sweet but tangy flavor that I can still smell…Excellent. Jim had a Parmesan Peppercorn Chicken Wrap in which I am sure the word, “Peppercorn,” in the title sold him. He really enjoyed it as well.
He also ordered a bottle of Old Milwaukee. I was pretty sure that was not what he meant to order. I even informed our server he did not mean to order it. Growing up, my dad always had his fridge well stocked with Old Mil. My first sip of the nectar from God was from Dad’s bottle of Old Milwaukee leading to me to form, at a very early age, an obviously false conclusion that I would never drink a whole beer. Today the $1.50, bottle of Old Mil tasted pretty good leading to the now true conclusion I have never met a beer I didn’t like
I loved the bi-level layout of the restaurant and bar. Owner-Operator Jodi Welsh was there working away and I enjoyed meeting her. She is a gracious host and I concluded she has much of which to be proud. Jodi’s Americana Grille is a very cute, spacious, impressive eatery and bar.
The rest of our stops were at land speed. We ran to Luana to pick up a new copy of the Todd Olsen’s Luana Tavern menu. Sharp menu loaded with great items. I hear the Wednesday night Chicken Wings have them leaving the tractor cab and golf course in pursuit of the spicy devils. I am sure they also warm the hungry bellies of patrons all winter long. Todd has a very well planned menu. It is not expansive but I would say concentrated on the things this dedicated chef does best! Check out the new menu here.
Next stop Gunder to take a picture of the Irish Shanti’s new “back” bar. A few weeks ago I wrote about their exciting updates. Operator and Chef, Hans Walsh, is glad the new bar is done. It is much better functioning and provides more space in the foyer area. The place looks great.

I also made a quick stop in to see Jody Rose, owner of JR’s Bar and Grill in Farmersburg. I love visiting with Jody in front of one of the most historic back bar’s in Clayton County. They were enjoying a nice lunch crowd. Jody along with the others mentioned in this story is proud to honor dnt cash.
