This past October, local songwriter, recording artist and performer Mike McAbee, of Frankville, IA, recorded a CD at the Elkader Opera House. For me, Mike’s concert was one of the most entertaining shows I watched this year at the Elkader Opera House. —- This is true with one exception, just in case my youngest daughter, Jenna reads this post . Earlier in the month of October, the Opera House Players presented The Music Man in which Jenna played one of the townspeople. It too was a fantastic show. “Honey it was one
of the most entertaining shows I saw this year but not the most
.”
Mike McAbee’s CDs are simply a hoot and then some. To watch this quite humble, honest, quirky, talented, observant, clever, guitar strumming, downright funny guy record another CD was a true privilege. The audience loved every moment of watching Mike belt out his original music and no doubt everyone found a lyric in which to delight. As luck would have it my camera oddly ran out of juice just before the concert so I failed at capturing some of the evening’s more magical moments but I was able to capture this little clip.
