The Stadium's new owner, Marcella Schwartz
Yes, Stadium fans, it is true: The Stadium Bar & Grill located in Guttenberg, IA was recently purchased by Clayton County native Marcella Schwartz. Last week, I had a chance to talk with the iconic restaurant and entertainment hot spot’s new owner at the restaurant and dishntunes.com is happy to report, Marcella is thrilled for the opportunity to run one of Clayton County’s most famous eateries.
This is no trial basis: Schwartz brings a wealth of experience and industry knowledge to her new business. She returns to her hometown of Guttenberg after 17 years of working the food and beverage circuit in Las Vegas, NV. Nine of those years she worked at the famed Rio Hotel and Casino as the assistant bar and restaurant manager. In addition, she held similar positions at the Aladdin, which is now Planet Hollywood.
Status Quo: I asked her if her customers at the Stadium could expect any changes. She immediately responded, “No not at all, the Stadium is not broken and I am not going to fix it.” Loyal Stadium fans can expect a seamless transition which in fact occurs today, April 1st.
In actuality, for the last couple of months, Marcella has been working with the Stadium crew, learning the ropes at her new place. Marcella certainly has a friendly face in her crowd of new employees; for years, her mother, Katie Herman has worked on the morning wait staff team. The two are pretty excited with the chance to closely work together.
Stadium Fun reigns supreme: Marcella plans the same full course press, entertainment and fun schedule. Happy Hour remains on schedule Monday through Friday from 4-7. Monthly DJs will continue to pack the house along with the occasional comedy show and dart tourney. Sports fans and racing fans the Stadium will remain your headquarters for the game and race.
Menu additions:Marcella does point out customers can expect a few more healthy menu options like a fruit platter and a bagel and cream cheese.
