This past Saturday night, a few of us headed to Fitzy’s Sports Bar in Edgewood, to listen to Nashville recording artists, Billy Arnold and Kari Nelson. One word, ADORABLE!!! They are a great and exceedingly talented duo. If you love acoustic guitar and fiddle music, you have to take in their show at Fitzy’s this Saturday, November 26th from 5-9. They play much of their of original recordings but also plenty of contemporary Country hits. The crowd of dancer’s were lovin them. Of course, I love Kari’s soulful and sultry version of, ” Joleen! ”
Fitzy’s is a real fun place, we enjoyed a tasty platter of battered pickle chips and quesadillas and had super bar service by Fitzy’s owner, Morgan Kendrick.
Fitzy’s Sport’s Bar, in Edgewood, is proud and excited to welcome back Nashville Recording Artists Billy Arnold and Kari Nelson!
This story was submitted by Fitzy’s Owner Morgan Kendrick:
Billy Arnold was born and raised in Tampa, Florida, and at age 18, moved to Georgiana, Alabama. He began singing at age 22, as part of The Backwoods Boys, a local band. After spending a lot of time on the road, he moved to Nashville, Tennessee in pursuit of a solo career in country music. In 2009, he signed with LAG Records and recorded his debut album, Do You Remember, which was released on October 30, 2009. All 14 songs on his cd are originally written by Billy.
We had the opportunity to hear Billy earlier this year when we were at a bar in Florida. We thought he was fabulous and during a break we visited with him. During our discussion we discovered he was an avid hunter and fisherman, when we told him about the area, he said he would love to visit it sometime. We told him about the bar and quickly arrangements were made to play at Fitzy’s.
Joining Billy is his girlfriend Kari Nelson. Kari Nelson is a native of Roseau, Minnesota and has played violin since the age of 7. Her background training was in classical music and she took many years of lessons at the Manitoba Music Conservatory in Canada. Once she arrived in Nashville Kari got the opportunity to do some studio work for up and coming artists and musicians in Nashville. She continues to play out on the road with the likes of Warner Bros. recording artist John Rich of Big and Rich.
Billy and Kari have played at Fitzy’s in May and June and also have made an appearance at the Rodeo Grounds this year thanks to some local sponsors. With Kari’s parents being in Minnesota, playing at Fitzy’s works well as it gives them the opportunity to travel home.
Currently Billy and Kari have been working on finishing their new duo CD which will be released soon! This coming year they will be hitting the rodeo and fair circuit pretty hard so the time they spend at Fitzy’s may be more limited.
