After the show…you can go down to the bandshell and enjoy Krank State Band (Guttenberg’s own) from 3:00-5:00 p.m..  ….then….back to the water for the SECOND WATERSKI SHOW AT 6:00 P.M. !!!!!

It’s a day filled with Guttenberg artists, craftsman, farmers, merchants and of course, our residents….celebrating another year of continued growth, well-being and prosperity!!!

The weather is going to clear off and warm up this afternoon.  Movie starts at dusk or about 8:30 p.m.  This family-friendly activity is brought to you by the generousity of Jim and Sue Osterhaus, Jack & Linda Benskin, Fidelity Bank, and the City of Guttenberg.  Get out of the house and enjoy our beautiful park along the banks of the Mississippi!

Guttenberg Development and Tourism is so excited to announce our first concert in the park coming up this Friday night in the band shell.

Guttenberg Park  Bandshell:
Starting at 6:30p.m. Chad Elliott

Bonus! Bonita Crowe, female vocalist, will be accompanying Chad on his One Horse Town Tour this year.

Elliot will be entertaining you with his original songs as well as some of your country favorites.

Chad is a talented singer/guitarist/harmonicist; this is his third visit to Guttenberg from Council Bluffs, IA.  You will remember that Chad played for us last summer in the band shell and also gave the introductory songs for our Peace Through Corn dinner theater.

Come out and enjoy an evening by the river listening to music that reminds us of a simpler time.  Bring a lawn chair or blanket to the band shell area.

*Spc. Adam Eilers is the son of Patrick & Kathy Eilers of Garber, Iowa.  Eilers and two other Iowa National Guard soldiers, members of the I-133rd Infantry Alpha Co. Ironmen, were injured on Feb. 21 when insurgents detonated a bomb near their armored vehicle during a combat patrol. Adam has multiple serious injuries. The others are Pfc. Andrew Zimmerman, of Camanche, and Spc. Caleb Redell, of Erie, Ill.

Dinner will be served 4-8 p.m. (free will offering)

Hog roast featuring pork sandwiches, potatoes, drink, and homemade salads & desserts.

After 8 pm a $5 donation at door for the dance following the auction

LIVE-Auction will begin at approx. 6 p.m. Many homemade items, wood working, blankets, a set of IOWA FOOTBALL TICKETS (Homecoming), Adam’s 2000 FORD F150 TRUCK, 2- quarters of beef, and much more!!!
DANCE:  9 p.m.-1 a.m.-Music provided by BAD HABITS!
RAFFLE- done during the break of the band. Some items….television, many baskets of items, and lots of gift certificates.

Rock The River Road Show this Weekend

Iowa Rock n Roll Music AssociationTickets are available for the Rock the River Road  Show set for this Saturday, April 9th at Lakeside Ballroom.  The show is organized by the Iowa Rock n Roll Music Association (IRRMA).  Since 1997 the IRRMA has recognized the impact Iowa has had on the world of Rock n Roll.  The group honors Iowa’s contributers to the advancement of Rock n Roll music, by annually inducting them into the Iowa Rock n Roll Hall of Fame.

Lakeside Ballroom is a 2001 inductee to the Iowa Rock n Roll Hall of Fame, and is proud to join the elite list of ballrooms, musicians, bands, radio stations, music stores and individuals who have been honored by the IRRMA.

Lakeside operators are so excited to play host to this weekend’s Rock The River Road Show featuring Backwater, Midnight Express & Princemen and special guest, Steve Dirkkers.

The doors will open Saturday, April 9th at 5pm.  The Lakeside Galley will be open.  The dance begins at  7pm.

Old Man River Trivia League is on The Old Man River Trivia League began this week on Wednesday Jan 5th.

Get your bright thinking team together now and WIN! This Trivia League is a blast!

We are putting together the details but from what we know the league is taking place on Wednesday nights at 6:30pm, in McGregor at Old Man River, and in Guttenberg at the new Doug’s Pub and Grill .   The Old Man River Trivia League is formatted to allow teams of up to eight players.  The teams then field 5 rounds of 10 questions.  The teams are awarded a point per correct question. The team with the most points at the end of the game wins.

At Old Man River the top team instantly wins a $40 Old Man River Restaurant and Brewery gift card, 2nd place finishers receive a $30 gift card and 3rd place gets a $20 Old Man River card.
