dishntunes.com recommends a DETOUR

Friday, September 17th, 2010

The Detour, Petersburg IA
The Detour, owned by the fun and animated Wes Ulrich is located in the heart of tiny Petersburg, IA.  Many readers are very familiar with the variety of service offered at this small town, popular pub and eatery.   The Detour is open daily for lunch when area workers drop their tasks, and stop to refuel with a daily luncheon special personally, prepared by Wes.

Don’t miss The Detour’s  tailgate party, tomorrow September 18th.  See  adjacent ad.

On Thursday people arrive from “all over” to feast on what Wes describes as his insanely huge 16″ soft shell taco.  “Our customers are well satisfied after eating a Detour soft shell taco!”  On Friday night’s Wes serves another crowd of diners with BBQ Ribs and Chicken.

After the Friday night dinner crowd The Detour switches gears for the party crowd.  Wes prides himself in booking established, quality, big time, Classic Rock bands.  “Sure we have the occasional young start up band but for example this fall we have some really talented bands {Menance and Jester} playing from Dubuque and Waterloo.  These guys have been playing together for years and years, and the crowd will know it!”

Game watchers always find their way to The Detour.  The Detour’s huge screen TV will be playing your game especially Sunday NFL football.  Wes also wants all Party Bus drivers to know The Detour is a welcome stop on the party tour and he says he welcomes classic car enthusiasts, bikers and anyone with a “hot” date :)

Fennellys' Irish Pub Prime Rib WrapFennellys” Irish Pub, Elkader, IA – I was lucky enough to dine out for lunch today in Elkader.   My husband and I agreed we would try Fennellys’ new Prime Rib Wrap.   While supplies last, Prime Rib Wraps are the current featured lunch item at Fennellys’.  Let me just say, “excellent.”  This was a very well prepared, easy to eat luncheon delight.   The wrap was served on a spinach and herb wrap, with  flavorful prime rib chunks, crisp leaf lettuce, diced red onion and sauteed button mushrooms. Tasty Tasty!! I recommend lunch a Fennellys’ tomorrow.
