This pub has been the site for gatherings of friends longer than any other establishment like it in Iowa. The Breitbach family has owned and operated this establishment since 1852. If you haven’t stopped in for a cold drink and a visit with Mike Breitbach your are missing a major slice of the Iowa Pie. Speaking of pie each morning the Breitbach baking crew prepares dozens of homemade pie. During the warm months walk outside to the Beer Garden and enjoy a piece of phenomenal, homemade pie. This very German feeling restaurant is situated on the Great River Road. The scenic overlook next to the restaurant is said by many to be one of the most gorgeous views of the Mississippi River Valley.
