The Franklin Hotel Corner of Hwy 3 and 13 in Strawberry Point, IA 563-933-4788 The Franklin Hotel’s old fashioned coffee counter is cozy. The Schmidt’s are personable hosts in an atmosphere, which provides plenty of dining space, yet, in an intimate, stylish setting. The plate presentation is very appetizing and the food is delicious. I found the Strawberry Brewing Co coffee to be particularly enjoyable and full flavored. I recommend stopping into the Franklin for a fine slice of Iowa’s history and a terrific meal. Maggie’s Diner 28534 Hwy 18 McGregor, IA 563-8732935
At first glance you might think Maggie’s is your typical truck stop. This idea quickly vanishes as customers enter this immaculate dining room. Maggie’s Diner is one of Clayton County’s best kept secret. Visitors also instantly know Heidi Dickman keeps a very clean kitchen as it is full view of the dining room. Here you will be served REAL Homemade food. Soups are made from scratch each day and I would not miss the homemade pie. Open seven days a week. Don’t miss the daily lunch specials, the Friday Fish Fry or the 1st Sunday of the month Brunch Buffet. Check out their full menu. I haven’t even mentioned the fantastic view out the large back window.

McGregor Coffee Roasters 211 Main McGregor 563-873-Cafe
Coffee drinkers cheer McGregor Coffee Roasters Cafe is about to stage a return to the coffee business in new digs that will have most talking and even more returning to fill their cup every day. Many area coffeeaholics have been going through withdrawal this past summer as the McGregor Coffee Roasters group relocated their downtown McGregor, IA business up the street to a brand new building located at 211 Main, facing Triangle Park. Probably what has created most of the buzz is the fact the new location sports a drive- through window. That’s right, now right here in Clayton County, coffee lovers can pull up to the drive through window at McGregor Coffee Roasters and get their java fix on the go. READ MORE
