The kids will enjoy the Christmas Storyhour and Wee Shop at the Elkader Public Library starting at 10 a.m. Kids love the opportunity pick out donated Christmas gifts for their special people.
Downtown Carriage rides (weather permitting) and music start at 1 p.m.

Thursday, October 6th is when the downtown Elkader merchants will join together to celebrate the essence of October. If you like to shop and find a few deals, win prizes, dress in costumes and taste unique food items and wine, then head to downtown Elkader this coming Thursday evening. The Buttery, Willow Creek Wine and Garden, The Turkey River Mall, Bridge Street Boutique and The Copper Frog will be open for extended hours and will be offering various food and drink samples along with great deals and hosting door prize drawings for shoppers to enter.
Last year’s event was a huge hit with fun seekers swarming the streets of Elkader enjoying the evening weaving in an out of the downtown shops.

Big news Walleye Fans!
Drew’s All you Can Walleye Friday’s return this Friday September 9th. Many of Drew’s faithful have been patiently waiting for the day when Drew Armstrong, owner of Drew’s Sports Bar and Grille in downtown Elkader would return his famous Walleye fry to the Drew’s daily special line up.
Well the big news is, he has and here is the deal!
Friday Evenings at Drew’s will now feature All you can eat Walleye with a a choice of french fries or cheesy hash browns and salad bar for $9.99.
We wanted to update you on some exciting upcoming events at Schera’s.
First, on Saturday May 7 we will be joined by Zach Wahls and his mothers for dinner and a discussion. If you remember, Zach, who has two mothers, gave an impassioned speech before the Iowa State House earlier this year in opposition to a constitutional amendment that would strip same sex couples of marriage rights in Iowa. His speech went viral over the internet and landed Zach on national television shows like Ellen. Hear his speech and learn more about the impact of his words here.
The night will begin at 5:30 with a social, followed by dinner at 6pm. The first course will be a Salad of Spring Greens with Roasted Beets and Sweet Potatoes, Candied Pecans, Crumbled Goat Cheese, and Balsamic Vinaigrette. The main course will be Algerian Chicken Pot Pie with a side of Fresh Fruit, followed by Lemon Cake Puddings for dessert. (more…)
After many months of construction Drew Armstrong’s hard work has paid off. As owner and operator of Drew’s Sports Bar and Grille , he is pretty proud to be sporting a 2nd bar and wowza it really looks nice.

This newly opened serving area is situated in the front of the building, and is enhanced with a huge window, so the natural light pours in. Armstrong also added three flat screen TV’s for customers to enjoy the big sporting events of the day.
This is a dream come true for Drew who has always dreamed of operating a sports bar. In addition, to Drew’s tasty daily food specials here is a the specials for the Drew’s spirits:
