Calling all young actors … another Elkader Opera House theater camp will begin on July 12th .
The Opera House Players, the Elkader Opera House’s local theater group is generously providing another week long, summer theater camp for area youth. This year’s camp will be conducted by Camp Creamery, a division of Iowa’s oldest professional theater troupe, the Old Creamery Theater Company, which is based in Amana, IA.
The camp is designed to give children ages 7 and up the opportunity to work and perform with professional actors from The Old Creamery Theatre Company while they rehearse and present a play.
This year’s participants will rehearse Monday – Friday with three Camp Creamery counselors, at the Elkader Opera House, and will present a final performance of Little Red Riding Hood on Friday, July 16th & Saturday July 17th, at the Elkader Opera House. This new musical is based on the fairy tale we all know and love, but it has fun new characters and plenty of plot twists. Join in the fun and be a woodcutter, a bunny, a wolf, Little Red Riding Hood, or one of her best friends. This show is great for girls and boys.
Children ages 7 through high school are welcome to participate. Rehearsals will be daily, July 11th – 15th 10:00am-2:00pm. and Friday July 16 rehearsal is scheduled for 1:00pm-5:00pm. Final performances for the general public will be on Friday, July 16 at 7pm & Saturday, July 17 at1pm. The fee for the camp is only $10 per child which includes a t-shirt.
