The All new Doug’s is open and it is wonderful

Friday, December 10th, 2010

Guttenberg, IA
The All new Doug’s Pub and Grill in downtown Guttenberg is open for business.  I was fortunate to have had lunch there today and let me tell you; it is a like a breath of fresh air. From ambiance to the menu selections, I truly love everything about this great new Guttenberg locale.

The creativity expressed by owner, Abbe Smith simply rushes up to greet you the minute you walk in the door. Her goal for her new restaurant was to “bring back the fun atmosphere and great friendly service” she remembers about Doug’s. Well I say,’check and check….mission accomplished!’

Preview the menu on dishntunes.com I am sure another one of her goals had to be to put forth a well prepared menu that would be welcomed by the community and to that end, again check…mission accomplished! To give credit where it’s due area-renowned Chef Kendall Clark along with Chef Mike Plotner are in the house  and certainly influenced a “lights out” menu!

Future customers are going to love the simple elegance and wide selection along with the spin on local favorites and surprisingly, in our budget conscious era, everyone will love the affordability.

Chef Mike convinced me to try the Carolina Pulled Pork Sandwich, his “baby”. Wowza! I simply loved it and afterward I told him I could eat that everyday for lunch and die happy.  The group in the booth behind me enjoyed an order of the Coconut Shrimp appetizer and it took every ounce of my willpower not to snag a sample :)   Their oohs and ahhs were clearly heard.

Dishntunes.com Fans, make plans now to check out Guttenberg’s latest dining hot spot.  You are absolutely going to  be happy.  Doug’s Pub and Grill is lovely and the service in this brand new place was very good.   PS: I love the new, old fashioned bar… the side of the bar is lined with the old tin ceiling and at sturdy purse hook accessories every spot just below the bar…nice touches.

Win a Doug’s Pub and Grill $10 Gift Certificate by being the first to find the dishntunes.com hidden gift.
